Hybrid Marine Power & Propulsion Conference: Program Announced

The Hybrid Marine Power & Propulsion Conference being held at the RNLI College in Poole, U.K., October 6-8, will bring together an international group of experts armed with the latest knowledge that will assist the sub IMO professional sector to understand the possibilities of utilizing hybrid systems. The aim is to identify the potential for hybrid systems for specific sectors, including diesel / electric / battery for workboats, pilot boats, survey vessels, wind farm support vessels, superyacht tenders, patrol craft, military and unmanned craft.

Crew Systems Integration 2013 Program Announced

FRC International will host CSI 2013 - Crew Systems Integration conference from July 2-4, 2013 at RNLI Lifeboat College, Poole, U.K. The international conference includes over 20 presentations focusing on nine integrated topics for the RIB and high speed craft sector. Dr. Trevor Dobbins, Technical Director of FRC International, said, “The CSI concept brings together integrated topics which can improve RIB & HSC operations. Crew Systems Integration (CSI) is now a recognized requirement for many maritime organizations and CSI 2013 will cover a wide range of solutions for the professional sector.

Crew System Integration on RHIBs and High Speed Craft

Human Systems Integration (HSI) is a recognized requirement for many organizations. This is rapidly becoming more important as the professional RHIB and high speed craft sector are required to perform increasingly complex tasks. The objective is for marine units to deal with new scenarios, make fast decisions and implement them using high speed craft and specialist equipment to achieve successful outcomes. Crew-Systems Integration (CSI) brings together all these elements for the fast boat sector.

UK Recertifies MPS Training Courses

Maritime Protective Services announced the recertification for another five years of their training courses in the United Kingdom. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has again, reapproved their Ship Security Officer(SSO) and Company Security Officer(CSO) training courses, while the reaccreditation of their Port Facility Security Officer(PFSO) training course has again, been reapproved from Transportation Security Directorate (TRANSEC) of the Department for Transport. In the United States, Maritime Protective Services has offered certified maritime security courses since 2005, having won recertification from the US Maritime Administration and Coast Guard in 2007 and 2008.
