Russian Coastguard Quell Greenpeace Arctic Protest

Greenpeace say that Russian authorities are holding 30 of their activists on board the protester's vessel 'Arctic Sunrise' after their attempt to board a Gazprom drilling rig in the Pechora Sea. Coast Guard Hosts Russian Federal Security Service

Rear Adm. Arthur E. Brooks, Commander Seventeenth Coast Guard District, receives Lt. Gen. A. A. Lebedev, Commander Northeast Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia, and his delegation in Anchorage Monday, April 9, 2007. The delegation will be working with their U.S. Coast Guard counterparts through the week to discuss the continued exchange of relevant information and joint operations on the Maritime Boundary Line and in the Pacific Ocean. The Russian Security Service ship Vorovsky conducted joint exercises with the Coast Guard Cutter Chase Monday and is now moored in Kodiak for an official visit.
