Samskip Van Dieren Introduces Copenhagen Rail Service

As of November 4, 2013, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal will expand its intermodal network by adding rail shuttle services between Duisburg (D) and Copenhagen (DK). Daily rail shuttle services connecting our Duisburg intermodal terminal to Copenhagen, via Odense commence on November 4. Service start-up creates a new intermodal link between Copenhagen and destinations in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Intermodal Carrier Extends Service

A combi train will be pulled by ’through going’ locomotives, guaranteeing a transit time of only 15 hours between Sweden & Gernany. The intermodal container network of Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal will be expanded as from the 2, May 2013, with a shuttle service between Duisburg in Germany and Älmhult in Sweden. The operators say that the new combi train Älmhult will strengthen the presence of Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal in the Swedish market. The wholly-owned subsidiary of Samskip is already operating daily shuttle trains to and from Helsingborg, Göteborg, Nässjö and Katrineholm.
