Volvo Penta has unveiled IPS Professional Platform, its new propulsion offering for superyachts and commercial marine vessels, slated for commercial availability from 2025.Volvo Penta said the new fully integrated helm-to-propeller solution builds on its proven Inboard Performance System (IPS) and Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) technology with enhancements for larger vessels.The flexible platform enables a vessel to have up to eight power sources, and includes matched software, services and support, all integrated via the company’s proprietary EVC technology.

Kuosa assumes the position from Ilmo Kuutti, who served as CEO of NAPA Group for three years. Namura Shipbuilding introduces ClassNK-NAPA GREEN

The fleet performance management and optimization system ClassNK-NAPA GREEN jointly developed by leading classification society ClassNK (Chairman and President: Noboru Ueda) and maritime-software, services and data analysis company NAPA has been introduced to a newbuilding by Namura Shipbuilding. The move was spearheaded by Namura Shipbuilding based on the shipowner’s acceptance. ClassNK-NAPA GREEN collects voyage data from the VDR, data logger and other onboard devices and provides high precision performance analysis through its self-learning Dynamic Performance Model. INTERSCHALT VDR Earns CCS Certification

INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, the provider of maritime software, services and systems for navigation and communications systems (NavCom) and manufacturer of Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) systems, announced that its new generation VDR G4[e] has been type approved by the China Classification Society (CCS), effective July 1, 2015. By granting the type approval, CCS certifies that the VDR G4[e] complies with the international regulations and performance standards of IMO Resolution MSC.333(90). The VDR G4[e] has also been approved by the German federal authority BSH.

NAPA Streamlines Compliance with Class Design Rules

Global maritime software, services and data analysis company NAPA announced the release of new tools and interfaces with class society software to streamline ship design compliance with Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC&OT; formerly known as “harmonized CSR”) from the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). Updates to 3D structural design software, NAPA Steel, and the release of state-of-the-art geometry modeling tool, NAPA Designer, will deliver a shift from 2D to 3D design requirements.
