The anti-submarine force of the Northern Fleet of Russia detected a foreign submarine in the border waters and "expelled", Russian news agencies reported on Saturday, citing an unnamed spokesman of Staff Russian navy. A foreign submarine, believed to be an American ship Virginia class, was detected by forces of the Northern Fleet, stationed in the Barents Sea on August 7, the spokesman said. A defense official United States, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not confirm the incident and said he had no comment on the statements of Russia. "They sent the mentioned area a group of anti attack submarines and an Ilyushin Il-38 (...) to investigate and track the submarine," said Russian Navy spokesman, was quoted as saying by Interfax.
