First LP-SCR System Successfully Completed in M/V Southern Pearl

The first commercial Low Pressure SCR system (LP-SCR)system from Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has entered service onboard a major Singaporean container lines, PDL International’s 600TEU container vessel, M/V Southern Pearl.The system has supplied to a 6UEC33LSE-C2 engine, manufactured by J-ENG’s Chinese licensee, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (CSE) and the vessel was built by Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.Since J-ENG’s SCR system is compactly designed, the flexible arrangement can be realized and this time it was actually confirmed with the full scale vessel that the system is relatively easy to be installed in a small-size vessel with limited space for installation.Further…

WE's Direct-drive PM Shaft Generator Solutions for New Chemical Tankers

Energy efficiency solution provider WE Tech Solutions said it has received an order to deliver its direct-drive permanent magnet (PM) shaft generator solution to a series of two 17,500 DWT IMO class II chemical tankers, with an option for two more. The Switch, a technology specialist of megawatt-class PM machines for advanced marine drive trains, will deliver the PM shaft generators to be used in the solutions provided by WE Tech. The tankers will be built by the Chinese shipyard Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for Bergen-based Norwegian shipowner Rederiet Stenersen AS.

20 MacGregor Cranes Ordered for Multipurpose Vessels

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has recently secured an order to supply 20 MacGregor cranes for four new 38,000 dwt general cargo vessels under construction at Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China for the Chinese shipping company, Nanjing King Ship Management Co. Ltd. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between late 2014 and early 2015.The order was booked in the third quarter 2013 order intake. "The mix of cranes is designed to provide high levels of cargo handling efficiency," said Svante Lundberg, Sales Manager, Cranes.
