Tampa Bay Ferry Pilot Program Underway

HMS Ferries, Inc. has begin a passenger only ferry pilot project in the Tampa Bay, Fla. area, called the “Cross Bay Ferry.” The six-month pilot project was launched on November 1, 2016 and will connect the cities of St. Petersburg and Tampa, and end on May 1, 2017. The pilot project is a unique, regional effort designed to demonstrate water transportation technology and service options to the residents and businesses of the Tampa Bay region. The Cross-Bay Ferry is a collaboration between St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Hillsborough and Pinellas County, and operates between the Vinoy Basin in St.

Fireboy-Xintex Brings New Tech to IBEX

Fireboy-Xintex said it will exhibit its latest technology developments at The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), including newly released carbon monoxide alarm system as well as a new series of fire suppression systems. At IBEX, to be held October 4-6, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center, Fireboy-Xintex is releasing its new CMD5-M Carbon Monoxide Alarm, which features an electrochemical sensor, compact design and a version that requires no external power to be fully functional.

Cross-Bay Ferry Plan Unveiled

With anticipation high for a St. Petersburg/Tampa ferry service, organizers of the project today announced an exciting set of launch events, including a series of runs for supporters to “Test the Waters,” plus a striking new logo and a formal name: The Cross-Bay Ferry. MSRC Enters Contract with Ocean Imaging

The Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) announced an exclusive contract with Ocean Imaging Corporation for cutting edge remote sensing capability. Ocean Imaging will provide its proprietary aerial surveillance technology as part of MSRC’s overall strategy for enhancing the ability to tactically position response resources in the optimal areas of oil migration for responding to spills. Pearl Harbor Shipyard Recognized for Excellence

The secretary of defense recognized Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) in depot-level maintenance excellence across all military services Aug. 2. PHNSY & IMF, a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) field activity, received the Robert T. Mason Award for the organization's outstanding emergent repairs and support of the warfighter. The award is presented annually to one program from a Department of Defense (DoD) depot-level maintenance activity that exemplifies exceptional depot-level maintenance support to DoD operating units.
