Austal Delivers Catamaran to BraveLine

Austal Limited's Philippines shipyard delivered a 50-mcatamaran to Taiwanese Brave Line in what is the company’s first commercial contract in the East Asian country.The catamaran is the first of two 550 passenger Austal-designed vessels being constructed at the company’s Philippines shipyard in Balamban, Cebu. The contract was awarded to Austal by Taiwan’s Brave Line in September 2017. India to Establish Center of Excellence in Maritime and Ship Building in 2 Cities

A world class Center of Excellence in Maritime and Ship Building (CEMS) is being set up by Ministry of Shipping in collaboration with  Siemens and Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) under the Ministry’s flagship Sagarmala Program. CEMS will have  campuses at Vishakhapatnam and Mumbai, and will provide industry-relevant skill development, equip students with employable engineering and technical skills in the port and maritime sector and contribute to the Government of India’s ambitious Sagarmala programme. DNV GL Works with Industry Leaders to Develop a New LPG Carrier

DNV GL has initiated a joint industry project for the design of a state-of-the-art next generation LPG carrier. LPGreen aims is to develop a more energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and safer vessel for the transportation of LPG products, taking into account existing and future trading patterns and ensuring the overall competitiveness of the concept. The 2016 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will honor this year’s Distinguished Achievement Award recipients on Tuesday, 3 May, in Houston. Transas Academy Launched

LR to Class Project Resolve Conversion

Project Resolve is the conversion of the container vessel M.V. Asterix to an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship to support the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) interim supply ship capability requirements. Providing support to Project Resolve will be Lloyd’s Register’s (LR) naval technology expertise and complex conversion experience. LR will support the conversion process from the development of a safety certification regime with the Flag Administration and approval of design plans through to on-site supervision at Davie and commissioning of the new AOR ship.

Imtech Marine Becomes RH Marine Group

The new RH Marine Group, formerly known as Imtech Marine was introduced at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam today. Following the recent acquisition by Parcom Capital and Pon Holdings, Imtech Marine will now be known as RH Marine Group, built on the roots of founding companies Radio Holland and van Rietschoten & Houwens. The two ‘pillars’ for service and newbuild activities within Imtech Marine are also involved in the new naming structure. CTruk Delivers First Colchester-built Workboat

Kvaerner in Big Statoil Offshore Platform Deal

Kvaerner says it has established a frame agreement with Statoil for delivery of steel jacket substructures to Statoil-operated fields. Based on this frame agreement, Statoil has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for Kvaerner to deliver two of the planned steel jackets to the Johan Svedrup development off the West Coast of Norway. Subject to all necessary approvals for the project to proceed, early estimates of the total value of the two jacket deliveries will be approximately NOK 3 billion. Keppel, Seafox Partner to Build Jackups

The accommodation jackup rig with Plug & Abandonment (P&A) features will be based on Keppel’s KFELS J Class design which is suited for the harsh environment of the Norwegian North Sea. Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has signed an engineering services agreement with Workfox B.V, a subsidiary of the Seafox Group (Seafox), to embark on an engineering study of a purpose-built accommodation jackup rig with well intervention and P&A features.

Invizeon Hires Kevin Walker to Lead Two Subsidiary Firms

Invizeon Corporation has appointed Kevin Walker as the Chief Operating Officer for two of its subsidiaries: Seafaring Security Services, LLC and Slipstream Resources, LLC. Mr. Walker was previously Vice President and General Manager of ACADEMI, a security, training, and logistics services provider to the U.S. Government, international and domestic military & law enforcement agencies, and numerous commercial customers. While at ACADEMI he successfully led the company’s flagship Training Services business unit. Aker Wins Deepwater Drill Riser Contract

Aker Solutions contracted by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to supply deepwater drilling riser. The 10 000 ft deepwater drilling CLIP riser system will be manufactured and delivered out of Aker Solutions' manufacturing plant in Port Klang, Malaysia. Delivery of the drilling riser system is scheduled for November 2014. The contract value is undisclosed. The delivery is related to the second of two options included in the drilling riser contract announced in July 2011.
