Mark Handin Named President at Patriot Maritime

U.S.-based Patriot Maritime announced it has appointed Mark Handin as president, replacing Lance Bardo who will retire at the end of June.Handin joins Patriot after a 27+ year career in various management, executive and corporate officer roles within Tidewater Marine and the A.P. Moller-Maersk group.Handin will hold overall responsibility for the performance of the companies’ owned and managed vessels under Patriot Contract Services. Port of Aberdeen's Shore Power Project to Dramatically Cut Vessel Emissions

Port of Aberdeen said Thursday it had been awarded funding from the UK Government for a multi-million-pound project to design and deliver the first large-scale landside and vessel-side shore power system in Scotland."The demonstrator project will cut vessel emissions at the berths by more than 80% compared with burning marine fuel and save in excess of 60,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the next 20 years," Port of Aberdeen said.Crucially, the port said, ‘Shore Power in Operation’ will pave the way for the roll-out of green shore power across North Harbour.

Turbocharger Overhaul for Tidewater OSVs

Marine engineering teams from diesel power specialist Royston Limited have carried out the overhaul of turbochargers on two offshore supply ships operated by Tidewater Marine in the oilfields off the coast of South West Africa. Appointed to lead Seaspan’s Marine Division, Reynolds joins the company with more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions and senior management. LEEVAC Launches First PSV for Tidewater

On Tuesday, January 27, LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings, LLC launched hull 367, a platform supply vessel (PSV) designed by LEEVAC Design Services, LLC (300 DE-52 HAB PSV). Hull 367, the first of a two-vessel newbuild program for Tidewater Marine, is LEEVAC’s first launch in 2015, a year that marks the company’s 50th anniversary. The vessel is 300 ft. x 62 ft. x 24 ft. deep, has a diesel-electric plant, accommodations for 52 persons, and is ABS Classed A1 AMS, ACCU, OFFSHORE SUPPORT, DP-2, FiFi-1, HAB (WB), UWILD ENVIRO and GP will be certified for worldwide operations.
