DP World Launches Container Port Inset Program

Unifeeder to Add Two More Methanol-powered Vessels

Unifeeder Group announced it has completed a long-term charter agreement for two additional methanol-capable container feeder vessels. This follows the agreement for two initial vessels announced in October 2023. MPCC Announces Newbuild and Retrofit Plans

MPC Container Ships (MPCC) on Monday announced plans to retrofit several of its ships and build one new vessel as part of its ongoing fleet renewal and decarbonization strategy.The Norwegian shipowner said it has entered into joint retrofit agreements with various charter customers, under which both the charterer and MPCC will share the costs of retrofit investments followed by an extension of the vessels time-charter contracts. Unifeeder containership SCA Tunadal on Wednesday claimed the maiden call at Sweden’s newest freight port, Stockholm Norvik Port, following the completion of a long port construction project.The container terminal is now open, both for vessel calls and for shore-based business operations at the port. The 32 hectare container terminal is run by Hutchison Ports, one of the world’s largest container terminal operators, with 52 ports in 27 countries.Nine goods in 10 arrive in Sweden by sea, and the Stockholm region accounts for half of Sweden’s entire consumption.

Denmark’s Short-sea operator Unifeeder , part of the global port operator DP World, has acquired a 77% stake in The Feedertech Group, a Singapore-based feeder and shortsea operator.The Group’s Chairman, Ali Maghami, will retain the remaining 23% shareholding.Established in 2003, the Group operates two companies; Feedertech, which is a feedering service and Perma, a regional shortsea network. DP World Acquires Unifeeder for $762.6 Mln

New COSCO Service Between UK, Europe, Russia

Chinese state-owned shipping and logistics services supplier company COSCO Shipping Lines announced a new COSCO feeder service from St Petersburg, Russia will begin calling at DP World Southampton."COSCO is to introduce a new weekly call at DP World Southampton, as part of a rotation including St Petersburg, Russia; Kotka, Finland; Southampton, UK; and Rotterdam, Netherlands," said a press release.The news comes after COSCO confirmed in February that DP World Southampton will be a permanent call on its feeder service. Nauticor Undertakes 1st SIMPOS LNG Bunkering

Unifeeder Intros New Sweden-Poland Service

Sweden's Port of Gävle will be included on the rotation of the newly launched Unifeeder Sweden-Poland Service.According to Yilport Gavle, this is the first commercial feeder service ever to directly connect the Swedish east coast to Poland with a weekly service.The service will start from Gdansk and then call Gdynia, Gavle, Norrkoeping, and back to Gdansk. JR Shipping Increases Container Capacity

Dutch shipowner and manager JR Shipping takes over four container spring ships and is expanding its fleet again.Harlingen-based JR Shipping said that it has added three 1,436 TEU container feeders to its fleet. A fourth vessel with the same capacity will be added within the next few months.Taking into account the recent sale of one of its container feeders, JR Shipping will thus increase its container capacity by over 4,500 TEU.The phased purchase concerns the MV’s Aalderdijk, Akerdijk and Alsterdijk (first phase) and the MV Amerdijk (second phase). The first-mentioned two vessels have now been rechristened MV Essence and MV Escape and will sail for JR Shipping under the Dutch flag.The current charter contracts with WEC Lines and Unifeeder will continue.
