Antipiracy System Updates Triple Operating Range

WatchStander LLC, a provider of antipiracy technology for the shipping industry, has tripled the effective operating range of its fully automated antipiracy system. The company upgraded its system to detect vessels and potential piracy threats from up to six nautical miles, tripling its previous capability. It has also enabled the technology to automatically respond with advanced, nonlethal countermeasures against inbound pirate boats as early as five nautical miles, significantly increasing the safety of the vessel and crew under attack.

NAVSEA Recruits Auto Workers for Shipbuilding

The U.S. Navy's largest systems command, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), is recruiting displaced mid-career automotive engineering professionals. NAVSEA continues to need mid-career employees particularly engineers, scientists and skilled tradesmen. Positions are open at NAVSEA's headquarters and affiliated program executive offices in Washington, D.C., as well as naval warfare centers, shipyards and Navy-sponsored University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs) across the country.
