Dynamiq Rolls-out Compact Explorer Yacht

Italian shipyard Dynamiq has introduced new G300 model designed to cruise the world. The Dynamiq Global 300 is a bit more compact and comes with a low profile design like other vessels by Dynamiq Yachts, said a press note from the builder.The yacht is designed to reach a top speed of 19 knots and an oceanic range of 4,000 nautical miles. Heesen: 55m Steel Class Vida Christened

Heesen has unveiled the latest yacht in the 55m Steel class, YN 18455. Hull Vane Retrofit Improves OPV’s Performance

CMN Shipyard in Cherbourg, France, conducted sea trials on the June  13, 2018 on the OPV Thémis from the French Coastguard (Affaires Maritimes).The patrol vessel received a hydrodynamic upgrade at the shipyard by retrofitting the patented Hull Vane, an underwater wing which reduces the ship’s resistance. Comparison with the benchmark sea trials – conducted in January in exactly the same conditions – by CMN’s sea trial team showed a reduction in fuel consumption of 18 percent at 12 knots, 27 percent at 15 knots and 22 percent at 20 knots.

MAN Rollo Supplies Engines for Hybrid Patrol Boat

In April this year, MAN Rollo supplied two engines for the RPA8 hybrid patrol boat, which Kooiman Shipyard was commissioned to build by the Port of Rotterdam Authority. When putting out a tender for the patrol boat, the Port of Rotterdam Authority defined a number of principles, including the cost of ownership, emission reduction and minimising wave generation. New Fast Displacement Yacht is First with Hybrid Propulsion

A new motoryacht built by built by the Netherlands’ Heesen Yachts is the world’s first Fast Displacement equipped with hybrid propulsion. Christened M/Y Home, the vessel is ultra-efficient, low fuel-burning and one of the quietest on the oceans. There are two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. Either source can be used independently or simultaneously, providing less noise and vibration, more flexible power management and increased efficiency.

Hull Vane on New Patrol Vessel for Port of Rotterdam

Hull Vane on New Patrol Vessel for Port of Rotterdam Shipyard Kooiman recently started building a new 25-meter patrol vessel for the Rotterdam Port Authority. The vessel will be delivered in the summer of 2017. The order followed a public tender process in which several shipbuilders competed with their designs. The design incorporates several innovations to improve the efficiency. Public tender The principal focal points in the tender were the vessel’s complete life-cycle costs, a minimal amount of emissions and a minimum of wave formation.

New Operational Structure for Van Oossanen

Netherlands-based Van Oossanen Naval Architects is continuing to trade under the name Van Oossanen. Van Oossanen will act as the Van Oossanen Group, incorporating Fluid Dynamics, Naval Architecture and Hull Vane BV, an independent company established by Van Oossanen.   According to Van Oossanen , the renewed business structure follows its growing activities for Computational Fluid Dynamics services in the commercial shipping market. As a separate service from naval architecture, Van Oossanen Fluid Dynamics will operate independently within Van Oossanen. Hull Vane BV, which produces a fuel saving device of the same name, is already operating as an independent sister company of Van Oossanen in order to make the Hull Vane available to the worldwide maritime market.

International Recognition for Fast Displacement Hull Form

Galactica Star, the first vessel to feature the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), has won the award for the best high-speed yacht over 45 meters in length at the World Super Yacht Awards on May 3, 2014. The jury reported that the award was granted because of Galactica Star’s “technically innovative FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) design, developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects”. Van Oossanen started the development of this new type of hull form in 2009. This was driven by their passion to develop vessels that are highly efficient both at lower cruising speeds and at high speeds.

Heesen Yachts Introduce New Superyacht Design

The Netherlands luxury yachtbuilder, Heesen Yachts, presents a new 58m superyacht in collaboration with Italian designer Francesco Paszkowsk. The relationship between Heesen Yachts and this Italian designer dates back to the Nineties with the creation of the exterior lines of the splendid 35 metre motor yacht Opus II and more recently with the interior design of two vessels in the 50 metre semi-displacement class. The exterior lines of this new 58 metre design combine elements inspired by automotive and aeronautical stylistic elements. The result is a design exuding power in every detail.

Dutch superyacht builders Heesen unveil their new range at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
