Höegh Autoliners said it has exercised its option to purchase the 2016-buil car carrier Höegh Trapper for a price of $53. million.The purchase price is considered a bargain as the average market value of the vessel estimated by three different brokers was $96 million by the end of Q3.“Höegh Trapper is the fourth bareboat chartered vessel where we declare a purchase option in 2022. By taking direct ownership of the vessel, we demonstrate our commitment to serve and build a long-term relationship with our customers based on a fleet we own and control.

The construction of Viking Glory is proceeding on schedule. The keel laying ceremony will take place June 3, at the Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry shipyard in China. The new climate-smart ship will begin operating along the Turku-Åland-Stockholm route under the year 2021. Passengers can make bookings for the ship as of December 2019.The keel laying ceremony is an old shipbuilding tradition, in which coins are placed under the keel of the ship to bring luck during the construction phase.

ALMACO secured the order to build 1121 passenger and crew cabins plus all the galleys, bars, pantries and provision stores, including cold rooms, freezers and walk-ins, for Viking Line’s newbuild at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. Deltamarin Ltd said it has signed contracts with Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (XSI) for engineering and construction support services for the Viking Line Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuelled ro-pax vessel newbuilding. The contracts cover basic and detail design as well as comprehensive project management support and supervision services to the shipyard during vessel construction. The new ro-pax vessel for Viking Line will have a passenger capacity of 2,800 people, and the length of its cargo lanes will be 1,500 meters.

Ocean Yield ASA has agreed to certain amendments to the charter agreements with Höegh Autoliners (Höegh) for four PCTC vessels on long term charter. Ocean Yield currently has two newbuilding PCTC vessels of 8,500 CEU capacity under construction at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. The vessels are part of a series of six vessels, where Höegh has ordered four newbuildings and Ocean Yield two. Upon delivery, the vessels will be chartered out to Höegh on 12-year bareboat charters. Ocean Yield has agreed to sell its two vessels to Höegh and acquire two newbuilding sister vessels with earlier delivery dates from Höegh. The vessels are expected to be delivered in February and May 2016, following a delay in the original newbuilding schedule.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, says it has won a series of deck equipment orders from Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd. The winches and deck machinery packages will be fitted to six vessels under construction at the yard. Two 100m 300-person accommodation/work barges will each feature eight-point mooring systems, with an 85-tonne line pull/150-tonne brake holding capacity, tugger winches and capstans. These vessels are scheduled to be delivered from the second quarter of 2015 to the third quarter of 2016. The remaining four 99.8m accommodation/installation maintenance and repair vessels will each feature a range of deck machinery with delivery planned from the third quarter of 2015 through to the second quarter of 2016.

On August 30, 2013 MAN Diesel & Turbo signed an agreement regarding the production of its Kappel propeller portfolio with Dalian Marine Propeller Co., Ltd (DMMP) – part of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Group – at its facility in Frederikshavn, Denmark. The deal allows DMMP to produce and sell MAN Alpha Kappel design propellers in China. MAN Diesel & Turbo subsequently announced that DMMP has signed a Kappel design propeller contract with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co.

A series of new MacGregor offshore winch orders, secured in October, will serve the strong demand for maintenance, hook-up and commissioning services for existing oil platforms within the shallow water region of the Malay basin, says Francis Wong, Director, Segment Sales and Marketing, Offshore. "As oil prices remain high and oil majors continue to invest in exploration and production activities in the region, this has continued to boost the demand for new businesses relating to these services," explains Mr Wong. "Consequently, maintenance work boats and barges are in high demand to serve the needs of the area's oil platforms, many of which are operated by Petronas and Shell.

China delivered a large RoRo for motor vehicles to Zodiac shipping company in Britain. Named Morning Miracle, the ship was independently developed and built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. It is the first of the six roll-on-roll-off vessels for motor vehicles the British firm ordered from the Xiamen company. The 182.8-meter-long Morning Miracle is able to accomodate 4,900 cars and it can also load many other types of vehicles, including trucks and dump carriers, the company officials said. Source: Xinhua
