A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew medically evacuated an ailing 46-year-old crewman from a cruise ship nearly 60 miles southwest of San Diego, Tuesday.

The cruise ship Carnival Inspiration contacted the Coast Guard just after noon requesting assistance for the crewman experiencing chest pain.

A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man from the 855-foot ship and transported him back to the Sector where he was transferred to emergency medical personnel for further care.
