Injured Mariner Medevaced from Cargo Ship off Key West

An injured crew member was medevaced from a cargo ship approximately 20 miles south of Key West, Fla. on Tuesday.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it received a satellite phone call at approximately noon from the crew of the 482-foot cargo vessel Sanna reporting the man needed further medical care for a wound sustained to his arm.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew arrived on scene at 4:57 p.m., hoisted the injured crewmember and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Key West International Airport for further medical care.
