Woman Medevaced from Cruise Ship off SouthWest Pass

The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old woman from a cruise ship 225 miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard District 8 received a call at approximately 9 a.m., requesting a medevac for a woman who was reportedly suffering from internal bleeding. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 2:50 p.m. and hoisted the woman and a nurse and transported them to West Jefferson Medical Center in stable condition.
