SNAME Annual Meeting & Expo

August 5, 2009

The world’s foremost gathering of professionals in naval architecture, marine engineering and marine sciences will take place October 21-23 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island when the Society of Naval Architects and Engineers (SNAME) hosts its 2009 Annual Meeting and Expo. Early registration discounts of up to $200 are available until September 23.

“Over 90 percent of attendees responding to our post-2008 annual meeting and expo survey said the technical program was the best value in the industry for quality and content and the opportunity to network was an excellent way to build relationships leading to success,” said Nancy Ostin, SNAME Director of Membership and Marketing. “With an expanded range of technical paper topics, more continuing education courses and new panel discussions, we believe SNAME 2009 will be even more productive for attendees,” she added.

Just an hour from Boston and three hours from New York City, Providence offers convenient interstate highway access, an airport just ten minutes from downtown with more than 160 direct flights and fast and reliable AMTRAK rail service. The headquarters hotel – the Westin Providence - is directly connected to the Rhode Island Convention Center. Within walking distance are a variety of gourmet restaurants and historic attractions.

Attendees may also participate in a golf outing and the First Annual SNAME Sailing Regatta, with racing out of Sail Newport aboard J22s.
