RINA Classes New Megayacht

January 17, 2007

Classification society RINA has classed the first of Sunseeker's new 121-ft. megayachts. The Snapper is the largest build in Sunseeker's history. The new 121 ft. is the largest semi-custom production motoryacht ever to be built in the UK, at just under 124 ft. and 200 tons. Built under RINA Charter Class, the vessel has been awarded unrestricted classification for commercial service. Two further 121 ft. yachts are under construction by Sunseeker, both to RINA Charter Class and RINA Pleasure Vessel Rules.

Sunseeker is the world's largest privately-owned yacht builder and the largest producer of motoryachts over 80 ft, and the new 121-ft. tri-deck vessel highlights the resurgence of British shipbuilding with new shipyard facilities and an increased workforce. The 121 ft. LOA vessel displaces 175 tons on a half-load draft of 2.4 m and has owner and guest accommodation for 12 persons, and crew accommodation for 8 persons. Capable of speeds up to 24 kn, it can be fitted with different twin MTU engine options giving a range 1,500 nm.
