Light Sheen on Mississippi After Barge Sinks

October 7, 2010

According to a report from www.stltoday.com, investigators with the U.S. Coast Guard said a sheen is clearly visible on Thursday Oct. 7 on the Mississippi River near where a towboat sank the night of Oct. 6, but it's unclear how much fuel has leaked from the vessel and how that would affect public drinking water. ARTCO, Amercian River Transportation Co., owned the 70-foot-long towboat that sank north of the McKinley Bridge near the Missouri shore.
