Jeppesen Marine has launched Jeppesen Workboat Navigator – A Professional Information Service. It is designed as a piloting solution for commercial boats operating in coastal areas and inland waterways and provides mariners with a combination of detailed vector-based digital marine charts, location-based data, such as Notices to Mariners, and input from onboard sensors, such as GPS, radar, AIS, heading sensors, and onboard cameras. Jeppesen Workboat Navigator brings together numerous information sources for unparalleled situational awareness and weekly updates so the software and charts remain current and provide the most accurate information possible. Jeppesen Workboat Navigator delivers a host of features such as integrating AIS data onto the charts, radar overlay, a comprehensive 24x7 support network, and for tow and barge operators, a features that allows customers to input actual barge sizes and configurations, which can be saved and called up if there is an identical barge configuration on another trip. “Jeppesen Workboat Navigator is a game changing application because for the first time workboats have a professional information service that combines several critical data sources together into one comprehensive display,” said Tim Sukle, senior vice president, Jeppesen Marine. “We are working with many operators who are evaluating the benefits and efficiencies of our new offering, and we expect to announce a launch customer in the very near future.” For more information visit www.jeppesen.com
