Northrop Grumman Awarded SPS Contract

Northrop Grumman Corp., Electronic Systems, Annapolis, Md., is being
awarded a $6,026,646 firm-fixed-price/cost type contract for the Shipboard
Protection System (SPS). The purpose of the SPS system is to enhance the ability
of naval vessels to accomplish self-protection while moored to a pier, at anchor,
or during restricted maneuvering. The system shall provide a host ship with a
fully integrated and seamless sensor, analysis, and response system that will
provide the means for 360o situational awareness and engagement capability to
counter asymmetric Anti-terrorism/Force Protection threats around-the-clock, with
no increase in manning. Work will be performed in Annapolis, Md., and is expected
to be completed by March 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the
current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured and advertised via
the Internet with four offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington,
D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-05-C-6304).
