Northrop Grumman Corp. may be better known for its defense and shipbuilding skills, but the Los Angeles company is working with Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix on a testing system to promote student learning. The company's Assessment Solutions Promoting Instruction Reflection and Evidence of Learning System focuses on student achievement and closing the gap by providing tools that measure student progress, allowing teachers and schools to focus on areas where students need help, company officials said in an announcement Monday. The Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) system also provides teachers with research-based instructional strategies to help improve student learning. Northrop Grumman is working with the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development of Virginia on the contract. [Source: http://www.bizjournals.com]
