1941 - Chief of Naval Operations sends "war warning" to commanders of Pacific and Asiatic Fleets.

1961 - Navy reports first use of its cyclotron at Harvard University to treat a human brain tumor. After three treatments, the tumor of the two-year-old patient shrank by 80%.
