Fugro Offshore, Gregg Marine, Form Joint Venture

July 6, 2012

Holland's Fugro Offshore Geotechnics & Gregg Marine form a new Joint Venture company, Seafloor Geotec, LLC

Fugro Offshore Geotechnics are specialists in marine site investigation and geo-consulting, and Gregg Marine, Inc., in seabed robotic drilling.

The new J/V company, SGL will combine the extensive offshore drilling and testing expertise of both parent companies, with the robotic seabed systems developed by Gregg Marine, providing an enhanced seabed-based drilling and soil investigation capability to 3,000m water depth.

For Fugro, this signals its entrance into the seabed drill marketplace, to complement its extensive fleet of conventional geotechnical drilling platforms, providing a compelling option for oil and gas companies, mineral and mining companies and the scientific community. The company plans a new build program, which will include several technical enhancements and drilling upgrades to the first system.

Fugro leads the current survey work for the Nantucket Sound wind farm project.
