Princess Appoints Captain Christie as VP of Marine Operations

Princess Cruises has appointed Captain David Christie to the position of Vice President, Marine. A long-time Princess captain, who most recently commanded Grand Princess, Captain Christie will now be based at the company's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California and will be responsible for overseeing all of the maritime operations of the line's growing fleet. A 36-year P&O Princess Cruises veteran, Christie first took to the sea as a cadet with P&O in 1966. In 1975 he joined the original Pacific Princess, as a navigator and rose through the ranks aboard many of the vessels in the Princess fleet. In 1992 Christie earned his captain's stripes and took his first command aboard Island Princess. He has since commanded many of the company's newer vessels, including leading Sea Princess at her inaugural in 1998.
