Defense Shipyard Uses Paramarine Design Software

Spanisch shipyard Navantia uses Paramarine Advance Marine Design Software for naval ship & submarine design.

Paramarine software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, is being used by Navantia to support the development of both new naval surface ships and submarines. It is specifically being used for stability calculations on submarines and surface ships in development such as new frigates, patrol boats and corvettes.

Navantia employs over 5,500 staff and is Spain'’s leading naval military technology company offering a wide range of products and services. These include the design, construction and manufacturing of hi-tech military and civil vessels, control and combat systems, the overhaul and alteration of military and civil vessels and diesel engine and turbine manufacturing. Navantia'’s main customer is the Spanish Navy but also has extensive overseas activity with presence in Australia, India and Venezuela.

QinetiQ GRC is a provider of solutions for submarine, naval surface and commercial ship design and on-board stability assessment. With over 20 years’ experience, its Paramarine software has modelled and analysed thousands of concepts and is used extensively in both the defence and commercial sectors world-wide by shipbuilders, designers , operators and owners.

Sebastian Abril, Head of Naval Platforms Department, Navantia said: "We wanted to extend our marine design capabilities through the acquisition of additional vessel design software. We selected Paramarine not only because of its functionality and track record but also its ability to handle both submarines and surface vessels particular with regard to early stage design work."
