ECDIS Partners with Simrad to Offer Training

July 14, 2011

UK-based ECDIS training and consultancy company ECDIS Ltd has signed a new agreement with Simrad to provide flag-state approved training on Simrad's CS68 ECDIS software. The agreement has seen the installation of a Simrad terminal in ECDIS Ltd's e-Navigation Center, as well as the ability to provide mobile generic and type-specific training on Simrad ECDIS software.

Designed to withstand the roughest conditions at sea, Simrad's CS68 features a shock-mounted central processing unit and a choice of input devices. It is the only type-approved ECDIS that runs on 24VDc, which makes it suited to for all vessel types. The system also features a voice alarm system designed to provide the operator with specific warnings rather than a generic buzzer sound.

The two companies are also planning to open a new Simrad ECDIS training facility in the Netherlands later this year.
