Toronto Port Authority Welcomes new passenger/vehicle ferry

The Toronto Port Authority welcomed its new passenger and vehicle ferry in latter part of 2006. Built at a cost of $5M it will serve passengers and vehicles going to and from the new passenger transfer facilities built for Toronto City Centre Airport (YTZ).The new pasenger facilities built to accomodate the increase in passenger traffic flying on Porter Airlines. Porter are flying daily to several destinations in Canada and soon to the US.
The ferry can hold 100 passengers and up to 15 cars or combination of trucks and buses. It is state of the art with video docking
cameras elevated passenger ramps that take passengers directly to the upper deck passenger cabin, and a new vehicle ramp which locks the ferry to it and moves with any wave action in the sometimes choppy West Gap of Toronto Harbour.
The ferry is just one of a fleet of work boats , dredgers and assorted other ferries for use by the Toronto Port Authority to maintain the Port of Toronto and environs.
