Performance Assessment of Alternative Tanker Designs

The U.S. Coast Guard is making available the Environmental Equivalency Evaluation Index (EEEI), which is intended to establish a methodology to assess the oil outflow performance of alternative designs to the double hull tanker. The EEEI consists of a number of modifications to the revised interim guidelines for approval of alternative double hull designs promulgated by the IMO in Res. MEPC.110(49).
