Degussa Offers Biocidal Protection in Marine Coatings
October 24, 2001
Degussa now offers a series of anti-fouling algaecides proven effective in both freshwater and saltwater. Nuocide algaecides are environmentally friendly formulations engineered to prevent the build up of algae on surfaces below the water line. Their effectiveness in anti-fouling paints is based on continuous hydrolysis of active ingredients.
The Nuocide series, such as 1051, are additives that may be incorporated during the paint production process. The anti-fouling algaecide may also be combine with copper compounds or other substances to control the growth of animal organisms in addition to algae.
Degussa has designed Nuocide anti-fouling additives to control blue algae, green algae and diatoms at an economical loading level. The concentration of active ingredient is sufficient to affect the algae such that it cannot recover in fresh water after four hours.
