LR Publishes ISPS Practical Pack
April 7, 2003
Lloyd’s Register has published its ISPS Practical Pack, a guide designed to help owners and operators to meet the requirements of the forthcoming International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The pack was developed by Lloyd’s Register in conjunction with maritime security expert IDS International Ltd.
The ISPS Practical Pack provides a methodology that company security officers can use when conducting ship security assessments and developing ship security plans in accordance with the requirements of the ISPS Code.
“The ISPS Practical Pack is a part of Lloyd’s Register’s integrated approach to maritime security, an approach which also involves training for company and ship security officers,” says Angus McLean, Senior Specialist for Maritime Security in Lloyd’s Register’s Marine Management Systems group. “The pack is available to the industry, free of charge, but its full benefit will only be realized through the appropriate training.”
The ISPS Practical Pack can be downloaded from Lloyd’s Register’s website , following the path ‘Marine Services’ and selecting ‘Maritime Security’.
