MARAD Releases Updated Report

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has updated and expanded its Report on Survey of U.S. Shipbuilding and Repair Facilities - 2001. The expanded report contains facility information on over 250 shipyards including many small and medium sized yards. The survey is required by law primarily for use in determining whether an adequate shipbuilding and repair industrial base exists for use in a national emergency. It provides basic information concerning shipyard capabilities which would be of interest to prospective ship owner/operators. The report may be obtained from MARAD's Office of Shipbuilding and Marine Technology, room 8101 (telephone: 202-366-1867) or by email from Beth.Gearhart@MARAD.DOT.GOV. Reports may also be obtained from the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, room 7219 (telephone: 202-366-5807), 400 Seventh St., SW, Washington, DC 20590.
