RENOLIT Put to the test on Pilot Boat
Renolit Maritime coated one of a total of eleven new vessels ordered by the Danish State Pilot Service, DanPilot.
The other 10 vessels were given a conventional anti-fouling paint coating. A series of tests will be performed in the coming months in which the pilot vessels will be compared to each other, particularly with regard to their fuel efficiency.
The eleven identical vessels were built for DanPilot by the Baltic Workboat shipyard. In June 2018, RENOLIT presented its RENOLIT DOLPHIN S film solution to the technical directors of DanPilot. The company then agreed to film the last boat of the series with the RENOLIT DOLPHIN S anti-fouling film for test purposes.
The pilot vessel was coated at the Baltic Workboat shipyard in Estonia from November 18 – 23. A total of five applicators were on-site to apply the RENOLIT DOLPHIN S film to the 14.95 meter long boat. As the pilot vessels are identical in design, construction and equipment, the effect of the film compared to the other 10 vessels will be easy to determine,” said Sébastien Charlés, RENOLIT MARITIME Business Manager.
Jürgen Part, the corresponding Project Manager at Baltic Workboat, is excited. “The film could actually be a very good alternative to our previously-used anti-fouling measures, especially with regard to contamination and emissions. We are looking forward to seeing the DanPilot results. If the film delivers what it promises, we could well make filming a factory option”.
