Coast Guard Rescues Three After Vessel Sinks
April 10, 2003
A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans rescued three men after they beached their vessel to prevent it from sinking one mile south of Shell Beach on the Miss. River Gulf Outlet.
Once on-scene, the crew lowered a rescue swimmer to the shoreline to assess the condition of the three men and to prepare them for hoisting. The crew hoisted the mariners with the rescue basket and transported them to Air Station New Orleans where they awaited further transportation.
