NNS Gets $34.6M for new Carrier Research

Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co.,
Newport News, Va., is being awarded a $34,627,909
cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded
contract (N00024-00-C-2108) for continued research and design
development for the future aircraft carrier program, CVNX.
Newport News Shipbuilding will provide all services and material
for research studies, design efforts, production planning,
further definition of initiatives in order to reduce CVNX-1
total ownership costs and other data to support an integrated
product data environment for CVNX-1. Work will be performed in
Newport News, Va. (95%), and Groton, Conn. (5%), and is to be
completed by December 2003. Contract funds will not expire at
the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems
Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
