Curriculum Restructured
October 11, 1999
The president of SUNY Maritime College stated that the institution is redesigning its curriculum and refocusing its mission to meet the needs of students and the maritime industry as we move toward the millennium.
In a speech given during the school's recent homecoming ceremonies, Rear Admiral David C. Brown detailed a restructuring plan that would gradually transform the college from a focus on ship operation to the business of shipping.
Developed by both the college and SUNY officials, the redesign plan includes a refocusing of the school's primary mission to provide an improved business orientation; a dramatic expansion of enrollment; enhancement of the educational programs; and a major new construction program.
