Iridium Satellite Names New Executive VP

Iridium Satellite announces the appointment of John Roddy as executive vice president for ground operations and product development. With more than 27 years of telecommunications and information technology industry experience, Roddy has worked with Iridium over the last year as a consultant and, since joining the executive team, is responsible for having developed Iridium’s corporate operations model.

Roddy has joined Iridium to lead a terrestrial and gateway network technology operations organization that is focused on everything from customer care to product development.

Prior to working with Iridium, Roddy was the president of Telcordia Global Services in New Jersey where he also served as senior vice president of global operations and chief information officer. Before joining Telcordia Technologies, Roddy built a distinguished career with Nortel Networks, serving as vice president and general manager of professional services. He also served as vice president of technology and director, Ottawa Laboratories, for public carrier networks. In that role, he was responsible for the core hardware and software development of the switching product line.

Roddy is based in the company’s Tempe, Ariz. facility and reports directly to Desch.
