NN Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Gets Contract

Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. is being awarded a $8,352,108 fixed-price contract for the Drydocking Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) of USS Vella
Gulf (CG-72). Work will be performed in Newport News and is to be completed by August 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $8,352,108 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Internet, with
four proposals solicited and two offers received. The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, U.S. Navy, Portsmouth, Va., is the contracting activity.
