S. Korea Tops List in Shipbuilding

South Korea took the No. 1 ranking in the global shipbuilding industry in terms of new orders, order backlogs and the volume of vessels built in the January-November period, a London-based market researcher said Wednesday. According Clarkson Plc., the nation's shipbuilders won a combined 19.9 million compensated gross tons (CGT) in new orders in the first 11 months, accounting for over 40 percent of the global total of 49.2 million CGTs.
