Keppel Offshore and Marine has signed an agreement with Qatar Gas Transport Company to jointly develop and manage a major new facility in the Port of Ras Laffan in Qatar.

The agreement covers the construction, repair and maintenance of ships and other marine structures.

The new facility will be suitable for the repair and maintenance of very large LNG carriers and a wide range of other vessels.

The shipyard will be able to build specialised small ships, such as offshore supply vessels.

Completion of the first phase of the yard is scheduled for the last quarter of 2009.
