Majestic Fast Ferry Launches Between Singapore and Indonesia
Majestic Fast Ferry’s newest ferry, the Majestic Dream, set sail on a maiden voyage from Singapore Cruise Centre’s (SCC) HarbourFront terminal.
The 11th vessel in Majestic Fast Ferry’s fleet will ply the operator’s existing routes between Singapore and the Riau Islands in Indonesia. It will serve passengers travelling to and from SCC’s HarbourFront and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore, Batam Center and Sekupang terminals in Batam as well as Tanjung Pinang in Bintan.
The ferry was designed by Australian naval architect and engineering service firm Incat Crowther. It is the second series of ships built by Majestic Fast Ferry at its shipyard on Batam Island, following its first series comprising Majestic 7, 8 and 9.
The Majestic Dream can accommodate 317 passengers in its plush leather seats, including eight in business class. The new ferry is also powered by two fuel efficient high speed diesel engines which use 30% less fuel compared to the regular three engines found on other ferries.
Max Tan, Director of Majestic Fast Ferry, said: “We are happy to launch Majestic Dream, our latest ferry serving passengers travelling between Singapore and the Riau Islands. The new ferry will be able to accommodate one-and-half times more passengers and provide them with a more comfortable experience on-board. It is also more environmentally friendly as the ferry’s direct injection diesel engines are designed to reduce fuel consumption. We plan to launch three more of these ships in due course.”

SCC operates the award-winning HarbourFront Cruise and Ferry Terminal, one of the most intensively-used terminals in Asia, and the domestic and regional ferry terminals at Pasir Panjang and Tanah Merah. Over ten million passengers pass through its terminals annually.
In March this year, SCC announced that its Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal will become Singapore’s first solar-powered ferry terminal. SCC signed an agreement with local sustainable energy provider Sunseap Group to buy 100% of the terminal’s energy requirements via a hybrid offer that allows SCC to utilise solar power and supply from the grid.
