News: Skipperliner Builds New Production Facility

August 7, 2003

SkipperLiner is one of the most famous names in commercial and pleasure boating. Over 1,000 vessels have been built at their facility in Lacrosse, Wisc. This includes a series of pleasure boats and commercial boats in the 75-150-ft. range including paddleboats, low air draft canal boats and sleek Italian design custom yachts.

To keep up with their expanding business, SkipperLiner opened a new production center at the beginning of the year. The eight-acre facility includes a 60,000 sq. ft. climate controlled area where the vessels will be built, a painting/coating center, sandblast area with a closed loop filtration system. In addition two support buildings add 34,000 sq. ft. to the production center.

On the waterside at the Mississippi River are two boat launch systems from Marine Travelift, a 500-foot sea wall, two lift wells, a wet launch ramp and an 8,000-gallon fuel station.

The first vessel to be built at the new facility is the Majestic, a 146-foot diner cruise yacht with a passenger capacity of 400 people with 300 passengers on any deck. The vessel will enter service in spring of 2004 in Southern California. — Larry Pearson
