Wood Group Expands into Slovakia

December 2, 2015

Wood Group has expanded into Slovakia, opening an office in Bratislava that The Automated Technology Group, a Wood Group Mustang company, will use to support automation projects in Slovakia and the surrounding region.

"Proximity to Western European markets, a skilled labour force and a high number of university research facilities have resulted in an influx of high-tech and automotive multinational corporations to Slovakia in recent years," explained Mark House, president, Wood Group Mustang Automation and Control. "The Automated Technology Group's Slovakia office will enable us to pursue the ensuing automation projects currently in Slovakia and the surrounding region."

"Although we have provided installation, commissioning and maintenance of control systems at clients' sites for a number of years, these are our first dedicated premises outside of the UK," explained Andy Robinson, CEO of The Automated Technology Group. "We are delighted that Wood Group, our new owner, has embraced our growth plans and supported our strategy to establish a base in this crucially important region. It is a clear message of intent to all our customers that we are keen to support them outside of the UK and that we have the full support of Wood Group in doing so."

The new facility, located in the prestigious Carlton complex at the heart of Bratislava, will be used as a hub by control technicians and project managers as they support key projects in Slovakia, and as a recruitment and training centre.
