Exxonmobil Marine Fuels (EMMF) has further improved its delivery capability on the UK south coast by taking under exclusive contract from Whitaker Tankers a new, 4,500-tonne-capacity, double-hulled bunker barge, to be based at Southampton. The state-of-the-art "Whitchallenger" is one of the largest vessels of its kind in the UK. It will work alongside the "Jaynee W", which is already under contract to ExxonMobil, giving EMMF one of the most modern and safe fleets in Europe. The "Whitchallenger", is classed by Lloyd's Register, and carries the optimum class notation for environmental protection. Its fourteen cargo tanks are all fitted with in-tank blending capability. EMMF and Whitaker Tankers have a long-standing and successful working relationship. Jaime Spellings, newly elected Director, Global Marine Fuels, EMMF, says, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to extend our working relationship with Whitakers, a company which shares our philosophy with regard to the paramount importance of quality and safety. The entry into service of the "Whitchallenger" gives us the opportunity to improve still further the level of service available to our customers in a supply area of strategic importance."
