Maritime Training Company Strengthens Team

January 18, 2013

Clyde Marine Training, the UKs largest maritime training organization, has entered 2013 by strengthening its training division with a number of new starts.

First to join was Allison Hume who arrived in October 2012, joining from a boutique maritime recruitment company in Singapore where she worked on recruiting merchant navy cadets and other experienced parties for various careers at sea.

Alison was quickly joined by Hugh Mitchell in November 2012, who takes up the demanding role of Support Training Officer. Hugh previously enjoyed 30 years within Strathclyde Police, rising to the position of Police Inspector with direct involvement in the development of Probationary Constables.

Jennifer Brown then followed in early December in the role of Telesales and Administration Officer, directly supporting the Training Officers, clients and trainees, and providing direct sea-going experience, after serving on All Leisure Group’s MV Minerva, to locations as far afield as Africa, Asia and Antarctica.

And finally Ruth Scott joined as a Training Officer on Christmas Eve 2012.  Since completing her cadetship with Maersk in 2010, gaining her OOW COC qualification in addition to her Foundation Degree in Marine Operations, Ruth worked at Anglo Eastern as Fleet Operations Officer, covering vessel position monitoring, passage and cargo plans, certificate applications and D&A testing amongst other things, and its hoped that her hands on experience should prove invaluable to cadets in Ruth’s charge.

Colin McMurray, Clyde Marine Training’s Managing director welcomed this expansion stating: “We’re determined to continue providing the highest level of service to both our client companies, who remain hugely supportive and also to our trainees at the various nautical colleges throughout the country and these appointments, supplementing our existing experienced team, demonstrate this commitment. It’s a great way to start 2013."
