Technical Superintendents' Module 3 Training Course

Netherlands Maritime Technology inform that it has developed a dedicated course for technical superintendents. Ensuring that participants can fully comply with the ISM code, the course also offers practical knowledge that helps superintendents in their daily work.

The course is intended for junior technical superintendents, engineers or maritime officers who wish to take the next step to become superintendents, technical managers and professionals; also for equipment suppliers who want to learn more about the work of technical superintendents. It may also be a welcome refresher course for experienced technical superintendents. Some practical experience is a must.

Module 3 – Financial Management & Communication
Managing costs are an essential part of the tasks of the superintendent. Day 1 of this course explains the differences of CAPEX, OPEX, budgeting, cash flow, payment terms and all relevant financial elements that effects the day to day operations of the technical superintendent. A combination of theory and practical assignments will ensure sufficient insights, enabling the superintendent to understand costs and provide the tools to manage them.

Most problems and incidents occur due to bad communication. For a superintendent, communication is a challenging part of it’s work. Ship’s operating on the high seas, with different nationalities and cultures and many stakeholders, both ashore and at sea, provide an optimal climate for bad communication. Day 2 of Module 3 provides the superintendent the tools for an effective communication with all relevant stakeholders. This will lead to a better performance whitin the Ship Management System.
