GAIL Tenders for LNG Cargoes

August 12, 2015

GAIL (India) Limited has launched two tenders for up to 17 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery in western India reports Reuters quoting trade sources.

The company is seeking five cargoes for deliveries in October to December at its 5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) LNG terminal at Dabhol in Maharashtra, the source said.
In a second tender GAIL is seeking delivery of one LNG cargo a month in 2016 at either Dabhol or Dahej LNG terminal in Gujarat state, the sources said. Petronet LNG operates the 10 mtpa Dahej plant.
Meanhile, GAIL has reportedly bought two cargoes of liquefied natural gas to be delivered in September.
Sources told Reuters that the company acquired the two cargoes following a tender that was issued in July.
Local media link the tender, that looked for cargoes for prompt delivery, to the recent approval by the government to use the imported gas for energy and fertilizer production that is expected to increase India’s demand for gas.
