July 30, 2003

A Coast Guard boarding team Monday terminated the voyage of a fishing vessel for insufficient safety equipment while in Dixon Entrance. A boarding team from the Coast Guard cutter Naushon conducted a routine safety and law enforcement on the fishing vessel Pennock. During the boarding, the team noted that the vessel did not have a buoyant apparatus on board. After consulting with the Coast Guard’s law enforcement office in Juneau, the Naushon crew terminated the 38-foot vessel’s voyage. The Naushon and crew escorted the Pennock to Ketchikan.
