GF Piping Systems exhibits at Seatrade Expo, claims carbon footprint of its pipes 5-times lower than metal

GF Piping Systems say their plastic piping provides better efficiency and lower weight compared to traditional piping materials. Thermoplastic plastic piping represents an environmental friendly solution thanks to a carbon footprint that is 5 times lower than metal.  Applications such as Inert Gas Cleaning (Scrubbing), Advanced Water Treatment, Ballast Water Management, Laundries supply and drainage, and Air Conditioning can all benefit from plastic piping.

They say their pipes ideal for retrofit projects on existing vessels, either in dry dock or in service and reduce maintenance costs thanks to Swiss quality, chemical resistance and plastic pipe characteristics:

For scrubber installations the piping system for exhaust gas cleaning installations requires a high chemical resistance due to the effluent's high corrosive content.  GF Piping Systems in PE, PP, and PVC-C offer a complete solution of pipes, manual and actuated valves and M&C that perfectly fits theses needs.

They say that for ballast water treatment systems their pipes meet the low-weight demands of the shipbuilding market while eliminating the corrosion that is an inherent handicap to metallic products used to build sea-going vessels. PE, PP, ABS, UPVC and CPVC plastic materials, ball and butterfly valves, M&C in different plastic materials, can easily fit the specific need.

Sea water cooling systems employing PE 100 and ABS  plastic materials that can be used at temperatures from -40°C to +60°C. In standard use, cold water distribution networks are susceptible to corrosion. Plastic piping systems offer significant advantages in this respect. In addition, PE 100 and ABS save weight and installation time. There is virtually no maintenance and the complete plastic system includes plastic valves and the corresponding measurement and control equipment.
