Transportation Appropriations Conference Report Passes Congress

November 12, 1999

Over the objections of House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bud Shuster (R-Pa.), the House agreed to the conference report on the Transportation appropriations bill for FY 00. Chairman Shuster objected to the "fast track" procedure for consideration of the conference report, several provisions of which he regarded as encroaching upon the jurisdiction of his authorizing committee. The bill provides funding of $4 billion for the USCG, an increase of $93 million over FY 99.
